Is to assure greater awareness of domestic violence challenges through advocacy, education and empowerment of individuals, families and the overall community.
Homesafe has been assisting women and children in domestic violence situations for 40 years. In 1978, a group of individuals began looking into funding and domestic violence shelters to acquire knowledge and education of possible options for Ashtabula County. In the 1980s, transformations began for the program with its official name deemed as Homesafe and a new location. A home, generously donated by a local individual from Ashtabula, provided Ashtabula County with its first shelter in 1981.
